New Video: Tamar Braxton – Love and War

Tamar has released the visual for her first single Love and War off of her upcoming sophomore album. Love and War quickly shot up to number one on iTunes’ singles chart, so I’m  a little surprised at how long it took Tamar to release the video to the song.

The video is a really nice looking visual, with scenes in a house and a beach, but I think it’s a bit lacking. The song is amazing and her vocals are on point so I think her first visual could have delivered just a tad bit more.

Tamar Braxton – Love and War (Performance on The Wendy Williams Show)

If anyone had any doubts that Tamar Braxton was going to remain in her big sister, Toni’s shadow for long, I think its safe to say a big fat NO! Tamar was recently on The Wendy Williams Show where she preformed her new hit single “Love and War” off of her upcoming album, slated for release in 2013.

This performance gave me a whole new respect for Tamar. I’ve seen her reality show a few times, and I knew she could sing by listening to a few of her older records but “Love and War” is exactly the kind of record that R&B needs in 2013. Her whole performance reminded me of the 90’s singers, who relied more on their voices than dance moves and auto tune. Tamar was able to give a solid vocal performance, while still giving off her signature sass.

“Love and War” is currently number 1 on the iTunes singles chart, and I couldn’t be any happier for Tamar. Be sure to buy her single and check out the video below!

Keyshia Cole – Woman to Woman Review

Image

Keyshia Cole has released her fifth studio album “Woman to Woman” and I must say, I am pleased with this effort. I can honestly say that Keyshia, in my opinion has never had a bad album. My favorite was her second album “Just Like You” because it showed a different side of Keyshia that most of her fans were not used to.

One thing I love about Keyshia is that she’s true to herself, and her album is 100% R&B, which I feel is slowly but surely vanishing in this pop fueled music industry.

The album opens up with her first single “Enough of No Love”, feat. Lil Wayne. This track takes you back to 2005 when she debuted with her first album “The Way It Is.” She sings “I cant stay here, if there’s no love.” It’s her proclamation of self, that she’s done with tolerating less than what she deserves. A great track to start off this album.

“Woman to Woman” leaves the “in love” theme that her last two albums exuded. The album features artists like Ashanti on the track “Woman to Woman” which could be a 2012 version of Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy is Mine”, with a different twist to it. Meek Mill, Lil Wayne and Robin Thicke are also featured.

My favorite tracks would have to be “Woman to Woman,” “Next Move” featuring Robin Thicke, and “Hey Sexy.”

“Woman to Woman” is a solid release from Keyshia, I think she has a hit on her hands!

VIDEO: Kelly Rowland feat. Lil Wayne – ICE

So, Kelly finally releases the visual aid for her single “Ice,” from her up-coming album “Year of the Woman.” It’s been a long time coming.

I’m not really a fan of the overtly sexual nature of Kelly’s music lately, and the video is obviously very sexual too. But, if she likes it I love it.

What are your thoughts?

Christina Aguilera – Lotus Review

Image

I think it’s safe to say that there were many who doubted Christina after her album “Bionic” wasn’t nearly as commercially successful as her previous albums. Lets also note that just because an album isn’t commercially successful doesn’t mean the content isn’t brilliant!

In “Lotus” Christina is going back to a “Stripped” kind of sound. It’s familiar, but still different for Christina. I think she did an amazing job with singing, showing off her vocals without over-doing it. In ballads like “Blank Page”, “Cease Fire”, and “Just a Fool” she is the master of that song bird that lives inside her vocal cords! I’ve been a fan of Christina since she sang “Reflections” for Mulan, but she has seriously silenced any person who doubted her talent.

There are also dance tracks, like “Your Body”, “Make the World Move – ft. Cee Lo Green” and “Circles.”

My favorite tracks would have to be 1.”Cease Fire”, 2.”Just a Fool”, 3.”Make the World Move”, 4.”Empty Words (Deluxe Edition), and 5.”Blank Page.”

This effort is a must have for any Christina fan, and I think for anyone that is a lover of solid, great music.
